Extensions Update.

So I've had my microlink extensions in for over a month now and they should last for yet another two months.  I love the look of super long hair and even better, everyone thinks it's my real hair!  It's a confidence boost to have hair like this but if I were to get extensions again, I think I'd spring for the glued in type.

The links must be treated with extra special care...which I'm not always good at doing.  You can't brush them with a regular brush, or brush them much at all.  I've sadly lost about seven strands, although you can't really tell.  It is recommended to go back to the salon periodically for maintenance but that can be pricey.  Another problem for me is that my hair is naturally curly and the extension hair is straight making it a pain in the ass to style.  It's hard to straighten all that hair gently and I can't wear it curly when only half of it is curly! I can't curl it either because my real hair holds a curl differently than the extension hair.  If you're considering getting extensions, definitely think about these factors before hand!  Clearly, I wasn't completely sure what I was getting into.  Finally, they're honestly a little itchy.

Overall, it's like a pair of Prada pumps.  They look so good and feel special to have but the comfort level could be better.  Weigh your options! I'll keep the for now though, long hair is inevitably sexy.

List of My Favorite Online Shopping Sites.

Web-window shopping is something I do on almost a daily basis(I've looked up shoes on my phone in the middle of a class lecture!), I just have to see what's new out there! You can bet your ass that I abuse online shopping, but it makes more sense when I find products and deals that I prefer much more over what my town has to offer.  I thought I'd share my go to list with you so maybe you can discover new places to get your online shopping fix...because we all know it's an addiction!

Hi-Lo Hems.

Okay, so I'm pretty much obsessed. Hi-Lo hems give a sort of laid-back, fun, "I-can-be-sexy-and-asymmetrical feel". Here's a Volcom dress from swell.com(who has a whole page dedicated to the trend that you must check out) that I am seriously lusting over.

What do you think about the new Hi-lo trend?

My New MicroLink Extensions.

I got a small part in a local salon's commercial to advertise that the owner puts in extensions.  It was basically a trade, I appear in her commercial and she gives me free extensions.  To me, this is a great deal because I love super long hair and on average extensions can cost upwards of $500.

I got microlink extensions because they cause the least amount of damage ad last around 3 months or so.  For those who haven't heard of them, they are basically extension hair that is clamped in with tiny links.  The stylist will go by rows, clamping in tiny pieces of hair to build up to a natural looking effect.  You can feel the links if you touch your scalp or lay straight on your head, which might be uncomfortable for some people.  Other versions of extensions include fusion, weaves and clip-ins.

I will keep you updated on how I like my extensions and how maintenance goes.

Gelish vs. Shellac

So is there a difference? Well honestly, to me it all comes down to personal preference.

Gelish and Shellac are both gel-like polishes that last for an amazing two weeks on your nails (OPI has jumped on the gel-wagon recently as well, I believe). They both cost the same, just a bit more than a traditional manicure and go through the same process of being painted on the nails and then left to cure for a short time under a special light.

Are there differences between the two? Only minor from my personal experience.  Gelish is, well, more gel-like where Shellac wears more like a traditional polish.  Gelish sits more on top of the nail which may look a little puffy, but, in my opinion, it also gives the illusion of longer nails.

So which do I prefer? I would have to say, Gelish...but not for the reason listed above.  Where I live more salons carry Gelish and have greater Gelish color choices. It is what it is.

So to end, basically: Gelish=Shellac>regular nail polish.  Got it?

Spring Trend I Want To Try

Okay, so there's only like a million spring trends I'm looking forward to and it's only January! I am, however, a sucker for all things lace. Lace is feminine, classic and even a little sexy.  This Billabong skirt(found on zappos.com) mixes just that.  Although, the look so a little "out there" I think it's unique, flirty and fun.  I would love to channel my inner Bohemian princess and pair this skirt with some awesome wedges and wavy styled hair.
